Tom grew up in southwest Michigan catching bluegills out of small lakes with his dad, happy to occasionally catch a largemouth bass. After graduating from Michigan State University and spending a year in Russia teaching English, he began teaching 6th grade in Chicago. In the summer of 2012, he moved to Loveland, started teaching computer science and programming to elementary students, and took up fishing again. He now fishes every chance he gets. Spin rod, fly rod, or ice rod, shore, boat, or float tube, Tom loves fishing. He also ties flies and golfs (both balls and discs), but mostly he focuses on edtech and goes fishing.
