Lake Oahe- South Dakota
Post By: fishinwfoos      Posted: 11/4/2009 10:46:21 AM     Points: 655
Hello Everyone- If anybody is planning a trip to South Dakota the walleye are being caught in great numbers right below the dam of Lake Oahe in Pierre on the Missouri River. I would chuck lures that resemble smelt (black and silver X-Raps work awesome). I would fish the moving water as close to the power house as possible. Just stand on the rocks and start casting.

Sounds like a great excuse for a cast & blast! Was actually planning on a SD pheasant trip to do just that until I was laid off in June! :((

HC Out!

Nothing quite like SD for pheasants. I've always wanted to try Lake Oahe when we are done hunting, but never get around to it. It is truly amazing how much the water level has come up in the last few years.

Just had to include a photo of a days hunt in SD.

Lucius- Honestly I didnt speak to anyone pike fishing up there so I cant help you there. When you head up there post something. My buddy and I know a bunch of people who fish the river and the lake almost every day. All I would have to do is call them to ask!
