I'm Larry Henrichs, a retired TV journalist who loves fishing and story telling. My backyard is literally Lake Harris in Central Florida. I'm on it and other Harris Chain lakes regularly, both monitoring conditions as well as fishing my favorite holes. I'm strictly artificials and absolutely love to flip the reeds of Florida's premier lakes. In my broadcast career, I got to fish as a "Press Angler" with Ricky Clunn in the 1984 Bassmaster Classic at Pine Bluff, Arkansas. On another day of that event, I was with then legend Ricky Green, possibly the most intense angler I've ever encountered. I've never lost the passion I was struck with that weekend. I've done some personal tournament angling along the way but foud the competition distracting. I'd rather just go fishing at my pace for my fish.
My preference today is fresh water, but I have fished the depths of the east coast of the US in Florida, Maine, New York and Maryland. In all, I've been tossing lures since 1954 when, at age 7, I caught my first striper in the East River of New York. As a Florida resident and angler for some 40 years, I have a sense of belonging to and being responsible for the waters I cherish. I hope to see you out there and, who knows, perhaps share your stories with our readers.
