Matt Snider Matt Snider is a life-long fly fisherman who has turned his attention to the "other species" of Colorado, namely the 20 or so non-trout species. Having caught multiple warmwater species in Colorado on the fly in Colorado alone, Matt built Fish Explorer as a means for fishermen to share lake conditions, an element he finds critical to catching fish and enjoying these resources.
Matt is an avid fly fisherman who's turned his love for noodle lines and feathers to warmwater species on lakes throughout the state. Casting a fly in still water is not everyone's idea of fun, but Matt ensures there's plenty of reward for the effort. Having landed almost every type of warmwater species Colorado has to offer, Matt has been through the ringer learning much of his technique through trial and error. He hopes his trials and lessons learned will prove valuable to launch new ideas from those also pursuing the sport. With pike and splake over 30", wiper, walleye, and carp over 20", bass over 17", and crappie over 14", Matt claims not to have perfected fly fishing for these fish, but instead he's perfected the persistence to catch these fish on the fly.
Not only a fisherman, Matt is a web developer by trade and enjoys numerous other activities including disc golf, ultimate frisbee, guitar, and fly tying. Matt grew up in Toledo, OH and then went to college at Cornell University in New York where he majored in Design and Environmental Analysis. After spending a year at Orvis in Jackson, WY, Matt and his wife Amy moved to Fort Collins where they've lived since 1996, now with two dogs, a cat, two birds a 5 year-old son and 2 year-old daughter.
