On the heels of the recent storm on Monday. Bill and I gave it one more shot. We were trying to hit that great fall bite. So far.... well I'm still waiting. We arrived at the lake at 10am. My weather reports were saying the air temp. Would be 36 degrees at that time. Wrong... try 7 degrees on my arrival. Didn't care I came to fish. We had the pontoons is the water by 10:30. Surface temp 48. My fish finder marked fish right away. I'm thinking maybe we'll hit it. Nope... at times the side view would line up 5 fish. The fish were Not eating. I'm dangling my flies right in their face... nothing. Finally at 2:03 I hook up the only dumb fish I the area. Bill, chuckles its 2:03. Kinda of an inside joke. We have had 3 trips where 2:03 was special. BTW the only dumb fish ate a large scud like size10. I really liked this drive off shot of the lake. Tight lines fellas until next year.

Nice fish! I've fished the river at least two times a week for the past couple of months. The fish haven't been super aggressive yet but I've landed some decent 2 1/2 lb -3 lb Bows at least every other trip in the last month in a Brown Trout predominant river.I had a Big Brown come off on the jump but have landed up to 18".I checked out the In-Fisherman Solunar Calendar the last 2 trips for the area I was fishing at and it was pretty much in tune with the best time of day to fish, especially yesterday! It said 4 pm-6pm and both my friend and myself got our biggest fish at 5 pm as well as numbers.

Love the shot of the lake glassed out.

Four hours and one "Follow-Up" fortunately it really was beautiful weather after the chill wore off.

BTW, I had to give Spinney a shot yesterday, it was nice weather and I'm still waiting for a bite. After trying sink line leeches, nymphs under the bobbers and about 20 different Rocket Launcher baits, I'm still waiting for a bite. Interestingly, I've had more "Skunks" this year than I've had in the past 11 years combined,

I'm seriously considering starting a knitting club out here in Hartsel!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The guy in the Sunny Fog is i2fly if you couldn't recognize him!

Hard to believe southpark turned into skunkpark. When 2 of SP's best get humbled, there's something wrong. I really hope for 1 more shot next week at Spin. Better days ahead..

B,I've gone to hit some rivers my self. South Park hasn't fished well on the days I've fished since September. However the allure of catching a ten pound fish brings me back to South Park.. however I like to catch fish too. So I'll be down by the creek. D, I know how you feel. I truly believe the dumb fish will return by spring. Bill, it's been a hoot fishing with you. Now I'm waiting for that great spring bite. Ice out has always been a better bite for me. Can't wait to see how the fish winter over with the extra water. I2

Dave post how you do. I believe it's a hit or a miss this time of year. I had fish under me all day. You just need them to turn on a bit. If you hit the timing... you'll catch them. Tight lines

I don't fish southpark that much anymore but from past experience that flat glassie water was always bad news. I did see The Fishful Thinker show where they caught fish in Antero on chrome cranks in the middle of the day when it was dead calm. Chad was in boat with Nat Zelinski which gives him a little advantage for sure.

Sadly on the days I have to fish lately, it's been hurricane season up there. Looking at this weekend it doesn't look much better. You'll need more than a yak or tube this weekend.....SCARY wind up there.

D, I here you... big wind is forcast. That's why we went last Tuesday. Seems like you get 4' waves or glass. Tuesday was to have 8-10 mph wind at peak. That should have been perfect. We got nada. Shoot we hand picked the day. Trying to be Goldilocks didn't work out.
Fish, your right glass water is not good. However early season chironomid fishing may be the exception. Sure had some real good early mornings at Spinney.
Good fishing days are precious... if every day was lights out! You wouldn't ever have a great day.... I2
