Wow, how eerie does a day from a holiday weekend make to an empty lake... I will take it all day, every day. I got to the lake at 1600 and fished until 1730, saw a couple of skiers and 1 fisher dude. I went solo, so all I did was toss a silver flicker shad about 55' behind me, no bait, no BB, no nothing else, and sipped a couple of beverages. About every 3-5 minutes in the middle basin humps making long sweeping s-turns eye after eye and smallies, also lost 2 trout, but that was a fun fight to all the fish. Most eyes were in the 12-15" range, but fun to catch, 1 fish peaked at 17"s, and I lost a nice perch and Many more eyes than caught at the boat... had a great time solo, no ruckus-wsssshhh, scenery was great, saw a buck eating at the entrance grassy field, and an owl by the creek bridge over to the boat ramp.
I wonder if I was that fisher dude. I was near the spillway till noon & caught a 20" Walleye on a Senko. Caught 11 smallmouth on the day (came back in the evening). 8 of them 13-15". Great day for fishing. Great job btw. 👍👍
