As I was flyfishing last eve, and having repeated success, I noticed a 12 year old boy with fly rod fishing from the nearby shore. He was not having much luck. Eventually I went over and gave him a few of the flies that were working for me, and gave him a few tips about casting. He really had decent casting form and should have been catching some. Well, he was going to try the flies tonite along with other techniques and I only hope he has success. He said it would be his first trout on fly! All you seasoned flyfishermen and women remember that joy of the first fish on fly?

Nice reading about helping other fisherman, I find myself also lending a hand when I can. The thing is, a lot of the people I try to help are adults who want to catch fish but haven't had anyone teach them the basics of fishing. It is satisfying to share what ever knowledge you have acquired over the years and pass it on to another and hope they will do the same some day. Human nature shows it's traits, some people listen and ask questions others ignore your advice or pay little attention and continue to struggle to catch anything. I will gladly help anyone who asks.

Johnski, good job. We all need to remember we were kids once. You know that probably is still being talked about by the kid. It feels good when you have got a kids attention....and you know that they are happy to listen. I love fly fishing because that kid was me 49 years ago. His name was Al. Just going back.....
