Made my first trip to N. Delaney last Tuesday and Wednesday (15th & 16th). I was warned that the wind can be a challenge. By late morning it started blowing on both days. I did manage to catch my first trout ever over 20". A chunky 23" brown and a 21.5" rainbow. Trolling my pontoon boat at the north end with a Rapala produced the brown and an egg pattern fly landed the trout and a smaller brown. Great scenery and big fish made for a rewarding trip. Can't wait to get back. All fish were successfully released. Great fun!
Thanks all for the welcome. You are correct ADTT I have the Colorado XT pontoon boat. Works really well until the wind starts howling. Maybe Santa will bring me a trolling set-up for X-mas. Rowing/trolling over and alongside the weed beds on the north side of the lake is what worked for me. Being able to camp right next to the lake makes this SWA really special in my opinion. Does anyone know what the biggest fish to come out of N. Delany measured/weighed? Tuesday evening when the wind had me fishing from shore another angler walking back from the north end stopped near, me made his first cast, and caught a rainbow that had to be 24-25 inches. I was in awe! Motivated me to get up a little earlier the next morning!
