River: Cache La Poudre River (Upper Canyon)

Anyone been up the Poudre lately?

Headed up to do some camping this weekend in the Pingree Park area, and always like to get out and flip some bugs around in the Poudre while I am up there. Anyone been up recently and know what the hatch looks like, and how the flows are? Been a few weeks since I've been up, any info is appreciated!

I drove by last weekend on the way to Joe Wright. Flows are good. Higher than normal for the end of summer, but ideal for wading/fishing. It was tempting to stop and fish, but. . .

Personally, I'd be thinking hopper/dropper rig and streamers in the deeper runs as the brown will be getting aggressive as they start thinking about spawning.

Good luck

Thanks Dave!! I was thinking the same thing, had some luck last time up there running a dropper type rig with a big stimulator replacing the hopper. Caught a couple browns that could barely get the big dry in their mouth. I love how aggressive the browns get!

Hopefully will have some good success to report back on.
