All County Day-Use and Regional Parks: County Parks are open year-round, however, per policy C-7, parking lot gates, park offices and restrooms will be closed on Dec. 25. All sites remain open to foot, horse and bike traffic. In addition, campgrounds remain open and will be in full operation with available parking, restrooms and staffed park offices on Dec. 25.

All County Campgrounds: In conjunction with the County’s water-conservation measures, coin-operated shower fixtures have been installed at the following campgrounds: Agua Caliente, Vallecito, Dos Picos, William Heise, Guajome Regional, Sweetwater Summit, Potrero and Lake Morena. Fixtures take quarters and cost 50 cents for 4 minutes of shower time. Quarters will be available at the Ranger stations.

Agua Caliente County Park: We're smoothing out the floors of our indoor spa May 1 - 3. The process is noisy and dusty, so we recommend using the other two pools until the improvements are complete.

Agua Caliente County Park: Beginning February 2017, construction on a new workshop will be taking place between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on select weekdays. Reservations will not be affected. For more information, call 760-765-1188.

Borrego Springs: The community of Borrego Springs will soon have a new, 16-acre park. Two meetings have been held with local residents to identify preferred amenities and to share background on the parks planning process. Please view the FAQ sheet for additional information.

Boulder Oaks Community Meeting: In July, 2016, the County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) hosted a public meeting in Ramona to discuss plans for a new preserve called Boulder Oaks. Key points of discussion included: Traffic/Parking (21% of comments), Maintenance/Operations (15%), Fire/Emergency Evacuation (14%), Crime/Safety/Trespassing (9%), Neighborhood Impacts (8%), Recreation/Trails (8%), Environmental Review (8%), General/Uncategorized (8%), Resource Impacts (6%), Community Involvement in Planning (3%) and Amenities (<1%) – totals may not total 100% due to rounding. DPR will soon commence work on a Public Access Plan, a Vegetation Management Plan and a Resource Management Plan. Efforts to preserve the local habitat are being balanced by efforts to improve user access with safe routes to nature, and to provide new opportunities for park education and ambassadorship. A second community meeting is slated to take place in 2017.

El Capitan County Preserve: Trail maintenance is being conducted on the main El Capitan Trail. The trail remains open. Please be aware of machinery while we work to improve your trail experience.

Helix Flume Trail: Due to a large swarm of bees, and for your safety, this trail is temporarily closed.

El Monte County Park: El Monte County Park will be closed for private events on Sunday, May 7 and Sunday, May 14, 2017. We encourage you to visit other parks during this time.

Guajome Regional Park: The Guajome Regional Park campground improvements project is set to take place Fall 2017 to Spring 2018. The project will be conducted in two phases Phase I will close campsites 13-35 from Oct. 2, 2017 to Jan. 15, 2018. Phase II will close campsites 1-12 from Jan. 15, 2018 to March 31, 2018.

Heise County Park: Campground construction is slated to take place May 31 to Sept. 15, 2017. Campsites will be impacted. Sites 1 - 20 will be closed May 31 - July 24, and sites 22 - 40 will be closed July 25 - Sept. 15. Those with existing reservations are being notified. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Lake Morena County Park: A Boil Water Order is in effect at Lake Morena County Park. This means the water on site is not safe to drink, but it is OK for use in showers and toilets which are still fully operational. Please bring your own drinking water while we work to address the issue. Call the Lake Morena Park office for further information at (619) 579-4101.

Lake Morena County Park: Heightened water in the lake has led to the re-opening of the boat ramp at Lake Morena. Beginning Saturday, April 1, personal watercraft, fishing float tubes, canoes and kayaks will be allowed in the lake. Motorized boats are also available for rent. Swimming and direct body-water contact are prohibited. Call the Lake Morena Park office for further information at (619) 579-4101.

Los Penasquitos Canyon County Preserve and Adobe: A long-term road construction project launched in August at 12020 Black Mountain Road (between the staging area entrance and Canyonside Park Drive to the adobe). While the park and adobe remain open during construction, this may cause delays and traffic may be restricted to one lane. This project is scheduled for completion in December. For more information, call (858) 484-7504.

Old Ironsides County Park: County Parks is updating the play equipment on the northwest corner of the park with a new play element, an outdoor fitness station, and an upgraded parking lot.
