Carter/Horsetooth Survey needs you by: Matt Snider   10/8/2009
I was recently contacted by a Fish Explorer member that is doing a research project for college, a survey of people that have gone through boating inspections at Carter Lake and Horsetooth Reservoir.  I told him I thought we could help him out.

He needs 100 entries minimum.  I told him I thought we could fulfill that right here through Fish Explorer visitors.  It only took me a couple of minutes to do.

This is from Brad himself:

My name is Brad Wright, I am a Recreation and Tourism major at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. The purpose of the this survey is to better understand the effects of mandatory boat inspections on the recreational use of Carter Lake and Horsetooth Reservoir. Over the past year, Larimer County has conducted 58,000 boat inspections and it is important that data be collected to help facility and parks managers across the state better understand how to serve the interests of boaters despite the inspections. This survey is a senior level research project that will be entered in the College of Natural and Health Sciences research contest in the spring of 2010 and will hopefully be published as a technical journal article.

When completing this survey, you will not be asked for any personal or contact information and will take less than 5 minutes to complete. The results will be posted on this website at the end of November. If you have any questions or concerns, I can be reached at wrig7953@bears.unco.edu.

Thank you very much for participating.

-Update: The link has been removed, survey was a success, thanks!-

My only problem with the inspections was if they tagged you that sometimes you still had to pull plug and lower motor to put in.Also larimer county cut our year short and i guess it is still called a yearly fee.

Yes I have to agree with these guys. I would have liked to added that one in and hope that Brad could get it to Larimer Cnty. I live in Greeley (Weld Cnty) so I pay $170 a year! HC Out!

Thank you everyone for your paricipation. So far I have recieved 50 responses with some great information! I still need 50 more reponses so keep up the good work! Even if you visited only one reservoir and not the other, you can still provide some valuable infomation. Thanks Again! -Brad
